Shōrin-zu Byōbu is a composition & meditation on the 16th century Japanese painting of the same name by Hasegawa Tōhaku. The composition explores the concept of ‘Ma’ (negative space), where emptiness is equally balanced with the figurative. The piece is a delicate reflection on a timeless aesthetic practice, carrying emotional intensity & fragile purity in equal measure.

The Chorale EP consists of two sister compositions, ‘Chorale In A Minor’ and ‘Canon In E Minor’, both of which fuse counterpoint and lush electroacoustic arrangements into widescreen cinematic statements. Each piece unfolds glacially into a rich emotive tapestry, whilst retaining a simplicity and clarity of vision at their core.

‘Prophecies’ by Laura Masotto & Ryan Teague is a suite in three movements incorporating brooding synth work, soaring violin arrangements & rich emotive harmonies. The compositions are themed around visions of environmental & ecological collapse, shifting from a state of despair to one of hope with devastating effect. The EP is out now and you can listen HERE.

“Homespun came about following a move out of the city & the purchase of a new piano. I spent many nights improvising & reacquainting myself with the instrument in my new home. It was the first solo piece I composed in this environment & captures a sense of peace & wonder.”

Taken from the forthcoming album ‘Pattern Recognition’ out 22nd March ’24 on Bigo & Twigetti. ‘Pattern Recognition’ is perhaps my most ambitious album to date, and the one that best reflects my artistic intentions and ambitions. ‘Tipping Point’ evolves like a glacier in time-lapse and the title in fact refers to the ecological and environmental point of no return.
